Upcoming exhibition at Upmarket Harrogate

Ten pieces of Steve’s mixed media art will be on display in an upcoming event taking place at Cold Bath Brewing Clubhouse in Harrogate on 31st July. The event organised by Up Market Harrogate will showcase carefully curated artists and independents local to the Harrogate area and is a great opportunity to meet and chat to Steve about the inspiration and approach that he takes to his contemporary paintings.

UP Market is a newly formed pop up adventure between ‘POP-UP Harrogate’ and ‘Cold Bath Brewing Co’. This exciting new venture will bring together independents, makers and artists all under one roof for the day where local community can come and enjoy, support and be more conscious consumers while enjoying the creative vibe.

Steve’s seascape paintings find a new home on appropriate walls

Inspired by dreams of the sea during lockdown, Steve created a series of four abstract seascape paintings. Drawing from his imagination and dreaming of blue skies and blue seas, the paintings have been created in acrylic on textured canvas and board in his garden studio located in the land-locked Harrogate area.

Tapping into his inner world, Steve has produced a series of seascapes that feel as tranquil as they do atmospheric. His textural handling of paint lends itself to a more varied exploration of colour, spanning from deep blues, to soft pinks and warm ambers. His dynamic application of layering creates depth and motion, but retains a stillness that evokes a sense of calm; something we all need amongst the current chaos.

The four seascapes have now been sold and will be hung on the walls of the buyer’s new seaside holiday home. For Steve, being able to sell his work directly to his buyers with the absence of a gallery or art dealer, allows for a more personal connection between artist and those hanging his paintings.

Three new paintings now on display at the lovely Weetons in Harrogate

Following the success of his previous exhibition in the same location, Steve has 3 new contemporary mixed media paintings on display at Weetons Food Hall, Harrogate.

The paintings are a series completed in July 2020 and were inspired by a trip to India in 2018.

Steve’s delighted to have the opportunity to display his work in this wonderful local establishment.
